Data Security

NCD deploys multiple back-up and security measures to insure data protection and availability.

Features currently in place to ensure security and integrity include:

  • Log in protection – Advanced firewall features protect data and servers from outside attacks.
    1. Access to data can be restricted to hosts entering from known IP addresses only
    2. Unauthorized access is blocked at the firewall level.
  • Authentication – All users are verified against the eWIX authentication server.
    1. After five wrong password attempts, the system rejects further attempts and returns to the home page.
    2. eWIX authentication meets HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines.
  • Data Protected in Transmission – Data is protected during transmission using AES-256 bit SSL encryption.
    1. Traffic between the client and server is sent over HTTPS (Secure HTTP) to ensure the integrity and privacy of all transmissions.
  • Primary Systems – deploys raid 5 storage and multiple broadband communication providers.
    1. Raid Storage Technology protects against loss of data when a storage device is not functioning correctly.
    2. Multiple communications providers allow us to have secondary communications availability should one not function.
  • Secondary Systems – duplicate database, image/application and Web servers with conventional storage systems.
    1. These systems duplicate the primary systems and can be on-line within a moments notice of a problem on the primary system.
    2. Data is transferred to the primary and secondary systems simultaneously insuring identical data on each system.
  • Co-location Systems – All data is mirrored to an alternate location with an independent Internet connection and power supply.
    1. In the event of a disaster at the primary hosting facility, resulting in the loss of redundant systems, operations can be transfered to the co-location facility to provide uninterrupted service.
  • Full Storage Back-up – once a month full system data back-ups are performed by copying all data to a removable hard drive system.
    1. Hard drives are removed from the system and held at an secure off-site location.
  • Daily Storage Back-up – nightly incremental backups are generated for all work completed that day.
    1. The incremental sets are moved to secure storage each day.
  • CD/DVD – non-proprietary formated copies can be made to removable media so that you may have a copy of all data.
